Indian Air Force Day

In 1932, the Indian Air force entrenched in the country as a supporting force to the UK Air force. Since then, 8 October is known as Indian Air Force Day. Every year the IAF and senior officials of all the three armed forces marked their presence in Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Indian Air force is generally known as ' Bhartiya Vayu Sena' has done its first operation after world war II in 1933.

IAF (Indian Air Force) plays a vital role during a war or a conflict with a nation. The primary objective of IAF is to secure the airspace of the nation and perform aerial activities during conflicts. IAF not only work and perform their duties during the war they come out as a saviour during natural calamities also. Indian Air Force has been a part of several wars includes four wars with Pakistan and a war with the people's of the Republic of China.

Here are some interesting and knowledgeable facts about IAF :

1. The motto of IAF, 'Nabham Sparsham Deeptham' is taken from the eleventh chapter of the Bhagvat Geeta which means 'Touch the sky with glory. 
2. Indian Air Force is ranked as the fourth largest operational air force in the world.
3. Hindon Air Force Station of IAF is the largest Air Force Station in the entire Aisa and the 8th largest in the world.
4. IAF always comes first whenever there are natural calamities in the nation. IAF has a world record of rescuing 20000 people during the Uttarakhand flood flash.
5. IAF has about 1400 aircraft and a 1,70,000 workforce, which includes a significant number of women fighter pilots, navigators and officers.
6. IAF even works with United Nations for peacekeeping. 

IAF has celebrated their 89th anniversary this time at Hindon Air Force Station. This day is celebrated to honour the air warriors.
