The brave Shershah of Kargil : Vikram Batra

“Tiranga lehrake aaunga, nehi toh usmein lipat ke aaunga. Lekin aaunga zarur”. - Vikram Batra.
Capitan Vikram Batra was born on 9th September in Ghuggar village, Palampur. He belonged from a middle-class background. He was very well known among his batch mates and teachers as he was an allrounder.

Lieutenant Vikram Batra was promoted as Captian Vikram Batra during Kargil in 1999. Captain Vikram Batra's team was ordered to recapture a very crucial peek and the mission was very dangerous and needed to be carried out. For this mission, Vikram Batra was nicknamed 'Shersah'. 

After knowing the location of the enemy, Shersah decided to attack from the rear. The enemy had their bunker on peak 5140 at the height of 17000 feet which was a very crucial peek. But Shershah knew that they had to capture this peek. Otherwise, Pakistan can lead to victory.

As soon as Sehersha's unit reached the cliff top enemy tried to pin them there with the machine gun. But our brave soldier assassinated them. Shershah alone killed three enemies in close combat. Despite being badly injured his inspired his team and motivated them to capture the peek.

In June 2020, peak 5014 was captured successfully. Captain Vikram Batra was awarded the highest gallantry award Param Vir Chakra for his outstanding courage, supreme sacrifice and great leadership.
